The Lutheran health care foundation is bowing out of the Denver-metro market, giving up its stake in Exempla Healthcare’s three area hospitals to its partner, the Sisters of Charity of Leavenworth Health System.
Sisters of Charity of Leavenworth Health Systems is essentially buying out the other nonprofit partner that jointly runs Exempla Healthcare in Denver.

Exempla was formed in 1998 by the Sisters of Charity and the LMC Community Foundation. The system includes Saint Joseph Hospital in Denver, Lutheran Medical Center in Wheat Ridge, Good Samaritan Medical Center in Lafayette and Exempla Physicians Network.
Sisters of Charity taking over health foundation’s share in three metro hospitals. The move will provide greater access to resources and also bring a Catholic affiliation to the health centers.
