Fr. Agustin Advincula, CM will be among the recipients of the Presidential Citation for their “unprecedented assistance and cooperation” to the successful evacuation of Filipinos based in Lebanon and East Timor, according to Executive Secretary Eduardo Ermita.Twenty-eight members of the Middle East Crisis Team and three foreign civic groups will be recipients of the Presidential Citation for their “unprecedented assistance and cooperation” to the successful evacuation of Filipinos based in Lebanon and East Timor, according to Executive Secretary Eduardo Ermita.
He said the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) recommended to President Arroyo the conferment of the Presidential Citations in honor and recognition of government agencies, private individuals and groups, churches and international organizations who contributed to the success of the evacuation efforts.
The date of the conferment will be announced later by the Office of the President.
Recipients of the Presidential Citation for the Lebanon Team include: Foreign Affairs Undersecretary Esteban B. Conejos, Jr; Ambassador Roy Cimatu, head, Philippine Middle East Preparedness Committee; and Major Orencio Jeruta;
Philippine Ambassador to Tel Aviv Antonio Modena; Philippine Ambassador to Kuwait Eric Endaya; Philippine Ambassador to Abu Dhabi Libran Cabactulan; Philippine Ambassador to Beirut Al Francis Bichara, Consul General Walter Salmingo and Vice-Consul Marlowe Miranda;
Minister Wilfredo Cuyugan, Philippine Embassy in Baghdad; Ezzedin Tago, Abdullah Cali, Camalodin Guro, and Mustapha Bayanan, DFA.
To be cited from the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) and Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) are: OWWA Administrator Marianito Roque, Deputy Administrator Angelo Jimenez, Welfare Officers Amelito Adel, Allan Ignacio, Mario Antonio, Hector Cruz and Ricardo Gacuma; DOLE Labor Attaches Rustico dela Fuente, Glenda Manalo and Jimmy Gimenez.
The foreign civic organizations are: The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), International Organization for Migration (IOM), and the Red Crescent Society.
Fr. Agustin Advincula of the Convent of Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal will also be a recipient of the same citation.
Honorees for the East Timor Team include: Ambassador Farita Aguilucho-Ong, Berth Salvador and Edwin Juan Batallones. (PNA)
