When Miranda, a case manager from the Society of St. Vincent de Paul, knocked on her door, Purdom was alone, depressed, and hungry. A successful New Orleans taxi driver prior to the storm, Purdom now did not have the means to retrieve her car from a repair shop in New Orleans.
The Society of St. Vincent de Paul is a member of Katrina Aid Today, a national case management consortium delivering long-term recovery assistance to vulnerable individuals and families in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina.
