Mission with Vision:
History of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul in the Diocese of Mangalore… in January 1926, a pious Catholic named Aloysius I. Mascarenhas from Bendur Parish along with his few companions approached Rev. Fr. R.F.C. Mascarenhas, the then Parish Priest of Bendur and obtained his permission to start the Society there. This was the first Conference of the Society founded in the Diocese of Mangalore.

Within a few months, Conferences were started in the neighbouring Parishes of Bejai, Cathedral and Milagres. Conferences of this Society came into existence in almost all the Parishes of the Mangalore City within a few years after that. In about 1930, all these Conferences were under the Mangalore Area Council (formerly known as Particular Council), which strived its best to make them function better and also to spread the Society in the surrounding regions.
