December 14, 2005 – Daughters of Charity Health System will install wireless network technology from Holtsville, N.Y.-based Symbol Technologies Inc. across its five hospitals in Los Altos Hills, California.
Hospital executives say the technology will be used for bedside medication administration and other clinical applications. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Some physicians at the Los Altos Hills, Calif.-based delivery system already use Symbol’s mobile devices for clinical care. For example, phlebotomists at Daughters’ Seton Medical Center in Daly City, Calif., collect blood sample data using the vendor’s PPT800 PDA. The PDAs also are used to collect demographic information from patients in the delivery system’s emergency departments.
