Bill Hinkler of the SVDP sends the following notice of the very favorable presentation of the work of the SVPD in West Virgiana – “W. Va. Floods Offer Lessons for Katrina Victims”Fellow Vincentians,
If you are not a regular listener of National Public Radio or if you were not tuned in on Friday evening December 2nd, you missed the broadcast of “W. Va. Floods Offer Lessons for Katrina Victims.” The report recounts the devastating July 8, 2001 flash flood, which destroyed many towns and lives in Wyoming County, West Virginia, and the ongoing recovery efforts. Featured in the report are the towns of Mullens and Beckley, West Virginia. Mullens and Beckley are close to Pineville, the location of the St. Vincent de Paul Conference of Southern West Virginia and the focal point of the Society’s Eastern Region’s Special Works Project.

May you and your loved ones have a joyous and blessed Christmas. As you give thanks to the Christ Child for the many gifts you’ve received, be assured many people in Wyoming County West Virginia will likewise give thanks for a special gift they received – you, “dem Catholics” who came, who stay, and do so much for them.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
Bill
