On 23 November 2005 the Holy See announced the nomination of Cristoforo Palmieri, C.M. by Pope Benedict XVI as Bishop of Rrëshen (Albania).

Cristoforo Palmieri, C.M.

He was born on 24 May 1939 in Bitonto (Bari), in the Diocese of Bitonto (Italy).

He entered the Internal Seminary on 26 September 1959 in Naples (Italy).

He made his vows on 27 September 1964 in Naples and was ordained a priest on 18 March 1967 in Naples by Msgr. Paolo Savino, Auxiliary Bishop of Naples.

On 16 April 1993, Fr. Maloney named him superior of the missionary team for Albania.

On 6 March 2000, he was named Apostolic Administrator of Rrëshen (Albania) by Pope John Paul II.

On 23 November 2005 the Holy See announced his nomination by Pope Benedict XVI as Bishop of Rrëshen (Albania).

This appointment indicates the Holy Father’s appreciation for and confidence in Fr. Palmieri, as well as for the entire Congregation of the Mission. We offer our best wishes to Fr. Palmieri and assure him of our prayer.
