SYDNEY, October 9, 2005 (vinnies.org.au): John O’Neill, NSW/ACT State president of the St Vincent de Paul Society, writes for The Catholic Weekly – There are many people among us that, due to their crisis situation, do not have the same opportunities to enjoy and embrace life. In today’s Gospel readings, people are invited to a wedding feast as God invites us all to find the kingdom of heaven. For many people there is no cause or energy for celebration of life here on earth as people struggle to live day-to-day weighed down by their problems. The St Vincent de Paul Society funds and operates a place for young people to deal with their problems, find support and a cause for celebration of a hopeful future. The Society’s Youth Reach, which operates on Sydney’s Northern Beaches at Dee Why, has contributed to supporting, enabling and empowering many hundreds of young people over the past 20 years.
