They ask the following…How can we, as Catholic Communicators, reach out
to the areas devastated by Hurricane Katrina? How
will we continue to be present as they begin to
rebuild?
The Catholic Academy for Communication Arts
Professionals (www.catholicacademy.org) will be
hosting a live chat: Hurricane Katrina 9/21/2005
3:00 – 4:00p EDT sponsored by Catholic Academy
“Internet Affinity” Chair, John Feister and Vicki
Wells Bedard. www.CatholicWeb.com will be hosting
the chat.
Topic:
How can we, as Catholic Communicators, reach out
to the areas devastated by Hurricane Katrina? How
will we continue to be present as they begin to
rebuild?
Guests are:
Tom Kessler, Director of IT, Diocese of Biloxi –
www.biloxidiocese.org
Peter Finney, Executive Editor/General Manager,
Clarion Herald – Archdiocese of New Orleans –
www.clarionherald.org
We hope others from the area will be joining us as
can.
Testing: The url for the chat is
http://happy.xerocom.net:6010/ – the site will be
open Noon to 1:00p EDT for testing with your
network and firewall. You will be able to login
shortly before 3:00p EDT.
Instructions: When you login you will be asked to
provide your name. It worked well last time when
people also included their organization. Our
guests, Tom and Peter, will have their names in
bold and highlighted, as will John Feister. This
will make it easier to identify their responses.
Note: CAPS lock is harder to read than upper &
lower case.
The number for CatholicWeb is 877.923.0777, my
number is 727.341.6836. I will be acting as
‘usher’.
Live chats – for those who have not participated
before – have a bit of ‘lag time’ from the time a
question is posted and response is recorded.
During that lag, you will see others responding.
You can always scroll up to catch up, and either
save or print as you go, as well. Also note: If
you click on a participant for a ‘side
conversation’ it will be open to the whole
community. You can also use that feature to direct
a specific question to one of the participants,
then click back to the full meeting.
A transcript of the chat will be available for
those who cannot participate live, or go to our
Catholic Academy Forums to continue the discussion.
Looking forward to seeing you online tomorrow.
Vicki
