Early word from the members of the Southern Province of the CM is that all are safely out of harms way. Property is another matter. It does seem that St. Stephen’s parish was in the path of the waters overflowing from the breached levee.

“Earlier, it seemed that neither St. Stephens nor St. Joseph’s property had suffered much in the way of damage, i.e. until early this morning= when we heard that two city blocks worth of a concrete levee (Lake Ponchatrain) had broken in or near Bucktown and there’s widespread flooding in the city. 8 or more feet of water in the Tulane area where St. Joseph church is located. Tulane hospital is in the neighborhood and helicoptering their patients elsewhere.”

If others have news of Vincentian Family members and institutions in the affected area please let
John Freund know.
