Brawl between Conservatives and SVDP in Australia heats up.A CONSERVATIVE think tank has accused one of Australia’s oldest charities of being a bunch of Marxist, bedsit revolutionaries, in a growing ideological brawl over the gap between rich and poor.
The Sydney-based Centre for Independent Studies attacked St Vincent de Paul’s critique of widening income inequality, and warned donors that they were funding “anti-capitalist propaganda”.
St Vincent de Paul retaliated yesterday that “CIS should take a Bex and have a good lie down. In place of intellectual rigour (it) has resorted to vindictive name-calling, much of it reminiscent of the Cold War”.
