SYDNEY, June 5, 2005 (catholicweekly.com.au): For more than 150 years, the St Vincent de Paul Society has played a vital role in the community, assisting people in need. It has only been in recent years that the Society has been more prominent and visible in its activities. A large contributor to this new visible presence has been the Society’s logo. Owen Rogers, chief executive officer of the St Vincent de Paul Society State Council NSW/ACT. writes in The Catholic Weekly this Sunday –
In its early days the Society used a portrait of its patron saint, St Vincent de Paul, in all its correspondence. The concept of creating a logo, and therefore an identity for the Society, began in the 1960s, amid talks that in order to reach more and more people in need we would need to communicate with the wider community and spread the word about our good works.
