Using the latest new tool of collaboration – wiki – the famvin.org group of Web sites has inaugurated VincentWiki. It opens amazing possibilities for sharing information, collaborating on projects and for committees to create working documents without having to spend so much in expensive time and travel. The initial set of articles include…

1. VincentWiki
2. Do You Speak Vincentian?
3. History of the Congregation of the Mission Project
4. Using this “wiki” to Collaborate on a Document
5. Expanding the Circle of Solidarity
6. Vincentian-Setonian Researchers

At present anyone who registers as a user on the following page can edit any article.

Visit http://famvin.org/wiki/

This site is modeled after the very successful http://www.wikipedia.com site.

Among its advantages are the ease of collaboration and the fact that it is available in so many languges. The English language Wikipedia online encylopedia has over 500,000 articles with many more being added each day.

It may sound chaotic to allow some many editors to a page but a visit to the Wikipedia site will show the quality of the resource which is rapidly gaining respect as a new way of providing content and collaboration.

PS Don’t worry about breaking the software. All edits are stored in a data base and can be undone or redone as called for. All edits are available for comparison via the “History” link on each page.

There is also a “Watch” feature which when turned on by a registered user will alert you to changes made to a particular page.
