Greetings from the JMV International Secretariat in Madrid! Yesterday, we launched the Year of the Youth in the Vincentian Family. It is a wonderful initiative now, such that the relevance of the Vincentian charism in the 21st century depends greatly on our capacity to influence the new generation in a way that the poor may count on the hands and the hearts of the young people who serve and announce the good news to them. As a magnificent finale to this year that has just begun, we are organizing a big “Vincentian Youth Encounter” in Cologne (Germany) from August 16-25, 2005 to celebrate the 20th World Youth Day under the theme, “We have come to do Him homage.” (Mt. 2:2) We hope that around the Holy Father, we may be able to unite the young members of all the branches of our family in order to know each other and celebrate our faith and our commitment together.
