BRISBANE, September 27, 2004 (vinnies.org.au): Whilst numerous tributes have been paid to Australia’s Olympic champions, the Queensland Youth Team from St Vincent De Paul were gearing up for a marathon effort of its own with the five-person contingent of Bernadette Hyde-Mewburn, Fran Byrne, Francine Kubanek, Tim Kenny and David McGovern focussing upon a “race to bring the Vinnies message to young people across Queensland”.
That’s the view of David McGovern, the newly appointed State Youth Ministries Co- ordinator. Mr McGovern said a recent two-day gathering in Sydney with fellow Youth Co-ordinators from across the country, offered plenty of “inspiration, insight and information”.
