AUSTRALIA, August 27, 2004 (vinnies.org.au): The St Vincent de Paul National Site (Australia) carries a media report which states that Federal Election candidates will be invited to attend local Public Forums across Australia, especially in marginal seats, to tell voters where they stand on poverty and inequality. Candidates will be asked “Do you care about the level of poverty and disadvantage in Australia ? If so and if elected, what do you intend to do about it ?”. The forums are being coordinated by organisers of the Vote[1] No More Poverty campaign.
