BOLOGNA, Italy, MAY 25, 2004 (Zenit.org).- Dehonian Press has published 1,865 pages of papal teachings on peace.
The first volume of the “Enchiridion of Peace” is a compendium of the most significant papal pronouncements on peace from Leo XIII’s pontificate to John XXIII’s.
The volume, first in a series of two, is a summary of a “century of the Pontiffs’ teaching on peace,” the publishers said.
The texts are in the original language (Latin, German, French and others) with their corresponding translation into Italian.
Cardinal Jean-Louis Tauran, until recently Vatican secretary for relations with states, explains in the prologue that “in these pages a Church appears that journeys with humanity and that is presented in its prophetic side.”
“The Popes quoted in this work have given life to an authentic theology of peace,” writes the cardinal, who is now Librarian of the Holy Roman Church.
The second volume, already in the works, will gather texts of Paul VI and John Paul II.
