DEFENDING PEACE AND LIFE
In the face of the drastic attempts in Madrid, that resulted to death, bloodshed and tears, a considerable number of families, the Vincentian Family: Daughters of Charity of St. Vincent de Paul, Vincentian Fathers, Vincentian Marian Youth, Miraculous Medal Association, International Association of Charity, St. Vincent de Paul Conferences, we feel and manifest our pain for the wounded, their families.
While we express our immense love, solace and support to the families of those who have lost their lives, we show our full and emphatic rejection of violence.

Prayer in Madrid
• We do not believe that the present circumstances incapacitate man to make a better world
• We manifest the right to PEACE and to LIFE
• We condemn all forms of violence, terrorism., all attempts against life, human dignity and the right of people to live in peace. God loves life
We do not forget that all that happens in this world is also a part of our responsibility, and that we shall be accused if we limit to our lamentations and look for someone else to blame.
It’s our inaction and passivity that worsen the problems and sufferings. The lack of conscience and indifference are the “Great Threats.”
Saints Vincent and Louise lived in very obscure times as we do. They fought to light the “candles”, determined to shine with the LIGHT that was promised in the daily Gospel of Jesus. The saints did not die, they are presently alive in their works and in those who continue their charism.
Today, in the Vincentian Family, we continue without ceasing our fight for PEACE and LIFE.
PRAYER:
All-powerful and eternal God of infinite goodness and mercy, listen to our prayer that we lift to you. With a compassionate heart , have mercy on your people and attend the supplications that we implore you.
God of life, we pray for the mortal victims of the brutal attempts in Madrid, your sons; our brothers. Do not leave them to die in these circumstances.
Father, welcome them into your embrace. God of health, listen to our prayers for all the wounded in this massacre. Heal their wounds, strengthen their hearts, fill them with your grace and your peace.
God of Consolation, visit the families of the victims. They are also innocent. Cover with your mantle of mercy and love the wounds of their hearts and of their souls.
Lord of the people and king of the nations, we pray for Spain and for all countries which suffer violence and terrorism. Prince of Peace, have pity on us and intercede for us.
Holy Mary of the Miraculous Medal, Mother of God and our Mother, Health of the sick, Consolation of the afflicted, Queen of Peace and of the families,
Pray for us.
