BATHURST, May 30, 2003 (stannies.com): Fr Jim Maloney CM writes in the Stannies’ Newsletter (Page 4) for this week – On Wednesday, 25 June, ten students and three staff are flying to Fiji for two weeks. They will be visiting the Vincentian Missions on the main island of Viti Levu and will stay ten days at the mission station of Natovi and its neighbouring villages. This mission was taken over by the Vincentians in 1959 and a number of Australian Vincentians, many of them Stannies’ exstudents, have ministered there during the past forty-four years. Fr Arthur Bridgewater CM and Fr Alan Finn CM , brother of Fr Tom Finn CM (RIP) , worked there for many years and also at the other Vin parish of Nausori, where the Suva airport is. Other Australian Vincentians still stationed in Fiji are Frs Doug Akehurst CM, Brian Jackson CM and Alan Gibson CM, who is presently studying in Ireland.
