From his captivity in the penal colony on the island of Patmos, John, the author of the book of Revelation, leader of communities in the primitive Church, persecuted by the Romans because of his witness as a committed Christian, preaches the Gospel to all Christian communities, encouraging them to remain faithful to Jesus Christ. Both in the time of the writing of the Book of Revelation and in Paul?s time, prison has shown itself to be a real place of evangelization. Today, the Catholic Church, following the example of Peter, Paul, and John in the book of Revelation, recognizes the importance of a pastoral plan in our country [Panamá], which gives life to, gives importance to, and motivates both male and female prisoners to make changes in their lives.
