The ALP Round-table on Poverty
Canberra, 18th October, 2002

We are not here as ALP members. Neither of us is, or has ever been, a member. We represent the Poor, Disadvantaged and Disenfranchised Australians. There are approximately three (3) million of them. Our volunteers see about 800,000 of them each year in 300,000 homes.

Nevertheless we welcome the opportunity to continue our discussions with the leadership of your party. In the last three years we have had ongoing discussions with Kim Beazley, Simon Crean, Wayne Swan and others, including their staffs, in pursuit of solutions to the problem of Poverty and Disadvantage in Australia.
