With floods in Australia “almost reaching biblical proportions” (BBC) State President of the St Vincent de Paul Society in Queensland, Brian Moore today announced that St Vincent de Paul Society Queensland has opened its Vinnies Christmas Flood Appeal in response to the plight of people who have had their homes damaged and lost so many of their personal belongings in the recent flooding in Queensland. Mr Moore said that the urgent need right now were the basics like clean dry clothes, dry mattresses and bedding and financial help to replace the things in flooded pantries and spoilt food in fridges. He called on the community to get behind the appeal by making a financial donation either online at Vinnies.org.au or by telephoning 13 18 12. (Source)

Team,
1) Can we donate at NSW Vinnies for Queensland recipients only?
2) If so, we are a couple of concerned people wanting to appeal to our local community here in Newcastle – Mayfield to promote and drive a charity drive for essentials such as clothes, linen, cooking items etc and hope that our local Vinnies (which is 5 mins from our home) will assist and support our effort with logistics beyond us. I have also emailed NBN television requesting their assistance in advertising etc.
Please assist us in our need to assist those in greatest need. For any enquiries please call Sue Kelly on 0249677727 or 0401543617
