Sister Terezinha Tortelli, Daughter of Charity of the Province of Curitiba (south of Brazil) and national Coordinator of Ministry to the Elderly was awarded the Title of Honorary Citizen of Maceió. She dedicated the honor to all community leaders who each month visit poor and fragile elderly people to help them age with dignity and have involvement in something. Also she congratulated the Archdiocese of Maceió for creating the “Year of the Elderly Persons” that was highly praised by several bishops of Brazil and will stimulate others to take on similar initiatives.
