“Put yourself in the patient’s place and fancy how you would feel.”
– St. Vincent de Paul
– Putting myself in the place of the sick can only result in attention to what is most important to their comfort and care. Keep me conscious, Lord, of all those special needs, often not expressed but so much appreciated by those who suffer.
This reminds me of one of “our masters” that Sr. Anne Kulemeka and I visited at Princess Marina Hospital, in Gaborone, Botswana. The nurses on duty never used to feed or wipe her in bed. She could not eat solid food, and had to depend on liquid foods. Whenever we visited her, she will smile, and even attempt to get up. We start by cleaning her body, and changing her clothes and the linen on the bed. After that, we feed her with the food we would have taken to the hospital. After all these, she will pray for us and bless us, expressing her appreciation for the work done.
If we are unable to visit, only God takes care of her.
Baliki passed on a few weeks later.
Some members of the Society of St Vincent de Paul bought food for her funeral.
To God be all the glory and honour.
Gostei muito. Teremos um ENCONTRO da AMM para repasse do Congresso anterior realizado em Fortaleza. Daí, aproveitaremos esta reflexão.
Grata!
