How SVdP is Helping Employers Find New Talent – St Vincent de Paul Society’s Program Connects Workers and Local Companies
I am away currently and hopefully you get these. My husband and I are celebrating a gift of travel from our children for our 50th Anniversary. God is good with His blessings, surprises and miracles.
The program launched on Wednesday, August 27th, 2014 is significant for several reasons. First, the offering of a leadership program within the Vincentian tradition and in partnership with a member of the Vincentian family based on the other side of the world, and secondly, the program was being launched in the year that the Society is marking 160 years of leadership and service in Australia.
Food for Thought leads Children and Families to Healthier Lifestyle
The St. Vincent de Paul Society of St. Joseph County is housed in an impoverished area in downtown South Bend, Indiana. The neighborhood is plagued with high crime rates, and has little to offer the children who call the area home.
Did our work change after the elections? The issues of the people we serve are still the same: generational poverty, job loss, minimum wage, homelessness, lack of documented status, etc. Inspired by the teaching of the Church, our advocacy will persevere, trying to remove the obstacles that keep people in poverty. Their needs seem only to grow larger as time passes.
