EMMITSBURG–The town planning commission unanimously approved a site plan Monday that will allow the Daughters of Charity to renovate their Provincial House. The $26 million project will modernize the 46-year-old building and increase efficiency, according to attorney David Severn.The plan approved Monday will downsize the The Daughters’s operations in Emmitsburg, “mothballing” a 72,000 square-foot area of the Provincial House. The St. Vincent Care Center, St. Catherine’s Nursing Center and the Villa Saint Michael independent and assisted living center will remain in the Provincial House.
