Strong storms have done severe damage to the Sisters of Charity (Nazareth) ministry of Rajgir, India. More than ninety children call Rajgir home. The Congregation is grateful there were no injuries but the children were shaken up. Sisters from other areas of India are travelling to Rajgir to help with recovery efforts.

In Rajgir, the Sisters of Charity of Nazareth minister to children who have been affected by polio. In this recent video Sister Pat Worley was able to connect with Soni, a girl whom she sponsors there. This was their first meeting.

Polio has been eradicated in much of the world. However, several years ago a polio epidemic occurred in the villages surrounding Rajgir. The Sisters provide housing, proper nutrition, medical and rehabilitation care, and an education to children who have been affected by polio here. Many of these children are very limited in their mobility because their limbs have been affected so severely. Some are only to get around by using both their hands and feet. The goal at Rajgir is for these children to learn skills and gain self-confidence so that they can lead successful and fulfilled lives.
