Saints and Blessed of the Vincentian Family

Blessed Chiara Bosatta was a young Italian religious sister whose brief life became a luminous testimony of humble charity, contemplative prayer, and total trust in Divine Providence.

Sister Francinaina Cirer Carbonell was born in Sencelles, Mallorca, in 1781. From a young age she devoted her life to serving those in need, founding the Congregation of the Sisters of Charity of St. Vincent de Paul of Mallorca (Spain). Her life was characterized by her dedication to the most needy. She was beatified in 1989 by Pope John Paul II.

Blessed Sister Rosalie Rendu, Daughter of Charity, was a key figure in organizing charitable efforts during the tumultuous first half of the 19th century in France. Renowned for her tireless work among the poor in the working-class neighborhoods of Paris, her mission went beyond material assistance, serving as a powerful witness to Christian love and social justice.

Giuseppina Nicoli devoted her life to serving the poor, especially by educating children and youth, and consistently demonstrated humble charity in adverse circumstances. Her legacy of love and service culminated in her beatification after a miracle was attributed to her intercession.

The Daughters of Charity Sister Marie Anne Vaillot and Sister Odile Baumgarten, martyrs of faith during the French Revolution, were executed because they refused to take an oath that was against their conscience.

Blessed Pierre-François Jamet (1762-1845) was a prominent French priest, renowned for his boldness during the French Revolution, his commitment to the most vulnerable and his innovative vision of special education. He was considered and called the “second founder” of the Institute of the Daughters of the Good Shepherd. He left an indelible legacy of faith and charity, which was crowned with his beatification in 1987.

Blessed Ana María Janer Anglarill dedicated her life to serving the sick, the poor, and the marginalized, founding the Institute of the Sisters of the Holy Family of Urgell to continue her mission of charity and education. Her spirituality, centered on divine providence, boundless love, and humility, inspires ongoing work in communities worldwide.

Lindalva Justo de Oliveira, born in 1953 in rural Brazil, dedicated her life to serving the poor, particularly through her work with children and the elderly, and joined the Daughters of Charity to deepen her commitment to faith. Tragically murdered in 1993 by a man she had tried to help, her life and martyrdom continue to inspire as a testament to selfless service, joy, and unwavering faith in Christ.
