In September 2025, the Archdiocese of Rio de Janeiro hosted the pilgrimage of Saint Vincent de Paul’s relics. With celebrations in churches and communities, the event marked 400 years of the Congregation of the Mission and renewed the Vincentian charism of service to the poor.
The relics of Saint Vincent de Paul visited the Archdiocese of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, from September 22 to 28, 2025, as part of a national pilgrimage marking the 400th anniversary of the Congregation of the Mission. The celebration culminated with a Mass at Christ the Redeemer, gathering the Vincentian Family and honoring the saint’s legacy of faith, charity, and service to the poor.
In 2025, the 400th anniversary of the Congregation of the Mission, founded by Saint Vincent de Paul, is being celebrated. His pastoral experience and the support of figures such as the Gondi family marked the beginning of this work. Pope Francis invites us to live this jubilee with renewed missionary zeal, reminding us that serving Christ in the poor is the heart of the Vincentian charism and a source of inspiration for the Church and for today’s youth.
Vincent de Paul and Louise de Marillac faced the tragedy of abandoned children in Paris by creating shelters and foster families through the Confraternities and with the support of the Daughters of Charity. Despite crises and hardships, they rallied noblewomen, clergy, and society to sustain the work. Vincent, more than collecting children, united forces to secure a future for thousands.

With nearly 2,900 members in 102 countries, it continues its commitment to evangelizing and serving the poor in diverse and evolving contexts.
In the 17th century, many sermons were mere demonstrations of vanity and erudition that did little to transform the lives of the faithful. Vincent de Paul advocated simple, humble preaching centered on Jesus Christ, which could touch hearts and bring about true personal and social transformation.
Inculturation is a requirement inherent in the Mystery of the Incarnation. The first to inculturate was the Word of God, who became flesh so that we could understand the whole message that the Father, through Him, wanted to transmit to humanity.
The Vincentian Charism Congress, held in Madrid May 23-25 on the occasion of the 400th anniversary of the Congregation of the Mission, brought together 275 participants in a fraternal atmosphere to reflect on the memory, present and future of the Vincentian charism.
