Sisters of Charity

Sister Mary Jerome Ely (1810–1885) was a pioneering leader of the Sisters of Charity of New York. Known for her deep faith, strategic vision, and practical leadership, she expanded Catholic education, founded numerous missions, and guided her community through times of growth and challenge, leaving a lasting legacy of service and devotion.

After 141 years in Memphis, the Sisters of Charity of Nazareth have ended their ministry in the city with the departure of Sister Trudy Foster. Their legacy lives on through the new Sister Trudy Montessori School and the countless lives they touched.

The Medical Mission Sisters of the North India Unit and the Sisters of Charity of Nazareth, Patna Province, celebrated 25 years of collaborative ministry at Kurji Holy Family Hospital in Patna, marking a significant milestone in the Church’s healing mission in Bihar.
