CURRENT: A Descendant’s Journey for Truth explores slavery, forced migration, family memory, and the recovery of overlooked African American histories. The documentary features the Sisters of Charity of Nazareth, highlighting their archival work, their acknowledgment of ties to enslaved people, and their commitment to truth, remembrance, justice, and reconciliation.

In the face of the human tragedy in Ceuta, the Vincentian Family Office expresses its sorrow for those who have died or remain missing and calls for immediate protection for the survivors, especially children. No border, political interest, or immigration status can be placed above a person’s life, dignity, and rights.

The 18th National Gathering of the Vincentian Family in Brazil, held in Fortaleza, brought together representatives of 12 Branches to strengthen communion, formation, and mission. Twenty-five years ago, lay Vincentian missionaries from around the world gathered in Los Molinos, Spain, for MISEVI’s First General Assembly. The meeting gave shape to a shared identity, created an international leadership structure, and affirmed a missionary vocation that continues to send laypeople across borders in service of those most in need.

In Graz, Austria, the Vincentian spirit has taken a form that is both simple and radical: a village for men who had almost nowhere else to go.

The home visit has long been one of the most distinctive practices of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul. It is not simply a practical way of delivering assistance. It represents a deliberate choice to draw close to people in need within the reality of their everyday lives.

In Arnhem, in the Netherlands, the Vincentian Association of Arnhem carries forward a long tradition of local service. Since 1848, it has worked to offer direct help to people in need, support projects for vulnerable groups, and be a voice for those who live in poverty and need greater justice in society.

During a trip to Spain, Pope Leo XIV called on the Church not to remain a mere spectator to the suffering of those who arrive by sea. In Brazil’s Federal District, a Vincentian Conference has been putting this call into practice for seven years, moving from family to family, one home at a time.

In Braunschweig, Germany, the Vincentian spirit takes the form of protection, listening, and patient accompaniment for women who have lived through situations of violence, exploitation, and fear.

For the Vincentian Family, service begins with a simple but profound conviction: every person in need deserves to be heard, welcomed, and accompanied with dignity.

Blessed Edmund Bojanowski was a Polish layman whose life combined deep faith, cultural engagement, and tireless service to the poor, especially children, leading to the foundation of four religious congregations and a lasting legacy of mercy.

In his final years, Fr. Nicolle continued his spiritual work in Albi and Montolieu, guiding others despite declining health. He died in 1890, leaving a legacy of prayer, sacrifice, and deep devotion to Christ’s agony.

Founded in 1833 in Paris by university students, the Society of Saint Vincent de Paul is a global Catholic organization that aids the needy and promotes social justice in over 150 countries.

Standing on Place de l’Indépendance, near the intersection of Avenue Habib Bourguiba and Avenue de France, the Cathedral of Saint Vincent de Paul and Saint Olivia is one of the most prominent Christian buildings in North Africa. It is the active cathedral of the Archdiocese of Tunis, serving both as a place of worship and as a visible sign of the country’s small but internationally diverse Catholic community.

Our vocation as Vincentians is a simple one; it is “to follow Christ through service to those in need and so bear witness to His compassionate and liberating love.” Our vocation leads us to “journey together towards holiness” which is “perfect union with Christ and the perfection of love.” We seek to do these things by “visiting and dedicating [ourselves] to the poor,” “attending the meeting of the Conference,” and “a life of prayer and reflection.” All this we do “for love alone.”
