The Vincentian Family Daily Intention: September 14, 2026

Today, September 14, 2026, we, the members of the Vincentian Family, pray for young adults forced into adult roles too early.

Some young people take on heavy responsibilities before they are ready. They may become caregivers for siblings or parents, work to support their households, manage family crises, or make life-changing decisions without guidance.

Their maturity is often praised, while the cost remains unseen. Beneath their strength may be exhaustion, grief, loneliness, and the loss of opportunities to learn, rest, and discover who they are.

Jesus welcomed the young and valued their lives, not only for what they could produce or provide. As Vincentians, we are called to notice those carrying burdens beyond their years and to offer more than admiration. They need protection, practical support, trustworthy adults, and space to grow.

We pray today for young adults who have had to become responsible too soon. May their burdens be shared, their sacrifices recognized, and their hopes restored.

    Word of God

“Come to me, all you who are weary and are carrying heavy burdens, and I will give you rest.”
    (Matthew 11:28)

    Prayer

God of tenderness, sustain young people carrying responsibilities beyond their years. Send them trustworthy companions, relieve their burdens, and give them the freedom to grow, learn, rest, and hope for their own future. Amen.

On this same day, we celebrate the foundation of the Missionary Sisters of the Poor in Christ, founded on September 14, 1978, the Feast of the Triumph of the Holy Cross, in the Diocese of Catarman, Philippines, by Sister Lourdes Gomez Lopez, a former Spanish Daughter of Charity. Public information about the Congregation is limited, but Vincentian sources describe it as a diocesan institute totally dedicated to the service of the poor and the uneducated. Its rule was based on the 1983 Constitutions of the Daughters of Charity of Saint Vincent de Paul, showing its clear Vincentian inspiration. Its foundation reminds us that the Cross of Christ leads to humble, practical love for those most in need.
