The Vincentian Family Daily Intention: September 8, 2026

Today, September 8, 2026, we, the members of the Vincentian Family, pray for better mental health services in underserved areas.

In many rural districts, poor neighborhoods, refugee communities, and isolated regions, people have little or no access to mental health care. Services may be too expensive, too distant, understaffed, or burdened by stigma.

Without timely support, anxiety, depression, trauma, addiction, and other conditions can deepen. Families often struggle alone, while those suffering may feel misunderstood or ashamed.

Vincentian service calls us to care for the whole person—body, mind, spirit, and relationships. Compassion must be accompanied by accessible professional care and public policies that place human dignity above profit or geography.

We pray today for those who need help but cannot obtain it, and for counselors, psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and community health workers serving with limited resources. May leaders invest in equitable services so that no one is denied care because of poverty or location.

    Word of God

“He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.”
    (Psalm 147:3)

    Prayer

God of healing, draw near to all who struggle with emotional or psychological pain. Strengthen those who care for them, break down stigma, and inspire communities to make compassionate and professional support available to everyone. Amen.

On this same day, we celebrate the foundation of the ALMA Puteri, founded on September 8, 1963, in Madiun, Indonesia, by Fr. Paulus Hendrikus Janssen, C.M. Known as the Sisters of ALMA, the community grew out of the Vincentian missionary work connected with Bhakti Luhur and was born from a desire to reach those who were often overlooked: people with disabilities, the poor, the sick, abandoned children, and families in great need. Its name refers to the Asosiasi Lembaga Misionaris Awam — the Association of Lay Missionary Institutes — and its members seek to live a missionary vocation through service, simplicity, and closeness to the vulnerable. Rooted in the Vincentian spirit, ALMA Puteri continues to witness to compassionate love in Indonesia and beyond
