Ambassadors of a Worldwide Brotherhood (WWB) Activities at Becora Prison Establishment in Timor-Leste
On 24 May 2026, the Ambassadors WWB from Timor-Leste (who call themselves ‘Ambassadors of Love’), together with the Brothers CMM and the ALMA Sisters in Dili, successfully carried out two major activities that integrated both spiritual and social dimensions.
This mission served as a practical expression of the vision and mission enshrined in the Statutes of Ambassadors of Love: to become a source of light, love, and hope for those living in situations of darkness, hardship, and isolation.
Celebrating Pentecost within the Prison Community
This program took place at the Becora Prison Establishment in Dili. The activities commenced with a spiritual celebration that coincided with the Solemnity of Pentecost Sunday. On this occasion several Ambassadors, together with the ALMA Sisters and the CMM Brothers, assumed responsibility for various liturgical ministries during the Holy Mass, including leading the choir and proclaiming the Sacred Readings.
The Eucharistic celebration was presided over by Father Francisco, Chaplain of the Becora Prison Establishment, in the presence of the inmates. The Mass was not merely a liturgical observance; it became a profound experience of communion and spiritual encounter. Within the prison walls, participants united in prayer, lifting their hearts to God and invoking the Holy Spirit to renew strength, restore hope, and heal the hidden wounds carried by many of those living behind bars.
The celebration served as a powerful reminder that the grace of God reaches every person, regardless of their circumstances, and that the Holy Spirit continues to inspire renewal, reconciliation, and transformation in the lives of all believers.
Sharing Love and Reflecting on True Freedom
Following the celebration of the Eucharist, members of Ambassadors of Love, the CMM Brothers, and the ALMA Sisters gathered with the inmates in the prison hall to continue with the social component of the program.
The gathering became a deeply moving experience as the inmates welcomed the visitors with songs and music that conveyed profound messages of resilience, hope, and personal struggle. These performances inspired all participants to reflect on an important truth: that many people who live physically free outside prison walls may nevertheless be confined by emotional, psychological, or spiritual burdens, while genuine freedom is ultimately rooted in the human heart and spirit.
Although the available space was limited, the Ambassadors of Love did not come primarily to distribute material goods. Instead, they came to share something far more valuable: the love of Christ. Members engaged warmly with the inmates, conversing with them as brothers, fathers, uncles, and fellow members of one human family. Through these conversations, words of encouragement, healing, and hope were shared, strengthening the inmates’ faith and reminding them that, despite their isolation and limited access to the outside world, God never abandons anyone who feels alone or forgotten.
Throughout these encounters, participants sought to affirm the dignity of each individual and to inspire confidence that every person possesses the capacity for personal growth, reconciliation, and renewal.
A Message of Hope
The event concluded with the following message: “Our presence here today is not as judges or authorities, but as your own family. For this reason, we encourage you not to lose heart or give in to despair. Everything that happens in life unfolds according to its proper time. What matters most is that we continue to be grateful for all that we receive and experience, because each of us walks a unique journey in life a journey that can lead us toward personal transformation, healing, and a better future.”
The program concluded in an atmosphere of joy, fellowship, and mutual affection. Handshakes, smiles, and warm embraces became visible signs of renewed hope, encouraging those who continue to await the day when they will once again experience the light of freedom.
Through this initiative, Ambassadors of Love Timor-Leste, together with the CMM Brothers and the ALMA Sisters, reaffirmed their commitment to serving vulnerable communities and promoting a culture of compassion, solidarity, and human dignity, guided by the Gospel values of love, mercy, and hope.
