Today, August 30, 2026, we, the members of the Vincentian Family, pray for communities resisting human trafficking.

Human trafficking continues to exploit millions of people through coercion, deception, and violence. It robs individuals of freedom, dignity, and hope.

Many communities, organizations, and individuals work courageously to prevent trafficking, protect victims, and bring to justice those responsible responsible for these crimes against humanity.

As Vincentians, we are called to defend human dignity and stand with those most vulnerable to exploitation.

We pray today for communities resisting human trafficking. May their efforts bear fruit, and may all victims find protection, healing, and freedom.

    Word of God

“The Lord works righteousness and justice for all the oppressed.”
    (Psalm 103:6)

    Prayer

God of freedom, strengthen all who work against human trafficking. Protect the vulnerable, heal survivors, and inspire society to reject every form of exploitation. Amen.

On this same day, we celebrate the feast of Bl. Ghebre Michael, an Ethiopian priest, martyr, and Vincentian postulant. Born in Ethiopia around 1791, he was first an Orthodox monk and a tireless seeker of truth. Through his friendship with St. Justin de Jacobis, C.M., he entered the Catholic Church and was ordained a priest in 1851. During a time of persecution, he refused to abandon his faith, even under imprisonment, chains, and torture. He died in 1855, worn down by suffering, and was beatified by Pope Pius XI in 1926. His life reminds us that fidelity to Christ can shine with courage, humility, and peace even in the darkest trials.
