The Vincentian Family Daily Intention: August 28, 2026

Today, August 28, 2026, we, the members of the Vincentian Family, pray for public policies rooted in the common good.

Political decisions shape the lives of millions. When policies serve only narrow interests, the poor and vulnerable often suffer the most.

The common good requires leaders who seek justice, promote participation, and protect human dignity. Saint Vincent understood that charity must be accompanied by efforts to transform unjust structures.

We pray today for policymakers and public servants. May they work with integrity, wisdom, and genuine concern for the well-being of all people.

    Word of God

“Seek the welfare of the city where I have sent you.”
    (Jeremiah 29:7)

    Prayer

God of justice, guide those entrusted with public responsibility. Help them place the common good above personal gain and work faithfully for the flourishing of all. Amen.

On this same day, we celebrate the foundation of the Vincentian Volunteers, founded on August 28, 1992, in Scotland by the Daughters of Charity, with the support of the Congregation of the Mission, SVP England and Wales, and SSVP Scotland. The program was created as a Christian charity to offer young adults an experience of faith, community, simple living, and service among people in need, without discrimination. Since its beginnings, more than 200 young men and women have served as Vincentian Volunteers in places such as Glasgow, Hull, Liverpool, London, Manchester, and Newcastle, working with vulnerable people and seeking those most in need. Rooted in the Vincentian spirit, their mission continues to unite prayer, friendship, and practical charity.
