The Vincentian Family Daily Intention: August 23, 2026

Today, August 23, 2026, we, the members of the Vincentian Family, pray for ethical leadership in emerging technologies.

New technologies have the power to improve lives, advance knowledge, and address human needs. Yet they also raise important questions about privacy, justice, human dignity, and the common good.

As technology develops rapidly, leaders must ensure that innovation serves humanity rather than exploiting or harming it.

As Vincentians, we believe that every human advancement should be guided by moral responsibility and concern for the most vulnerable.

We pray today for scientists, innovators, business leaders, and policymakers. May they use wisdom and integrity in shaping technologies that serve life and promote justice.

    Word of God

“Teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom.”
    (Psalm 90:12)

    Prayer

God of wisdom, guide those who shape the future through science and technology. Help them use their gifts responsibly and always in service of human dignity and the common good. Amen.

On this same day, we celebrate the foundation of the Damas Del Santuario (Ladies of the Sanctuary), founded on August 23, 1983, in Santa Rosa de Cabal, Risaralda, Colombia. According to Vincentian sources, the group began when Father Carlos Álvarez and Sister María Esther Villegas organized a group of devout women to support the continuation of the sanctuary dedicated to Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal. Their mission included raising funds, caring for the dignity of the church and its liturgical ornaments, spreading devotion to the Miraculous Medal, and welcoming pilgrims who came to the sanctuary. As a Catholic religious and social association inspired by Vincentian spirituality, the Damas Del Santuario continue to serve Christ in the person of the poor and to care for this Marian place of prayer.
