Today, August 16, 2026, we, the members of the Vincentian Family, pray for inclusive language and practices in the Church.
The Church is called to be a sign of God’s universal love, a home where every person can encounter Christ and grow in faith. Yet sometimes our words, attitudes, or customs can unintentionally make people feel excluded or unseen.
Saint Vincent welcomed people from every social background and reminded his followers to treat each person with respect and tenderness. The poor, especially, should always find a place of dignity within the Christian community.
We pray today that our Church communities may communicate and act in ways that reflect the hospitality of the Gospel. May we listen carefully, welcome generously, and accompany people with compassion.
Word of God
“Welcome one another, therefore, just as Christ has welcomed you.”
(Romans 15:7)
Prayer
Lord Jesus, help Your Church reflect Your open heart. Teach us to speak with charity, listen with humility, and create communities where every person feels loved and valued. Amen.
