On this same day, we also celebrate:

–The foundation of the Sisters of Charity of St. Vincent de Paul of Augsburg, founded on August 13, 1862, when Bishop Pankratius von Dinkel legally recognized the Augsburg Motherhouse. Their presence in Augsburg had begun earlier, with Sisters from the Munich Motherhouse serving in the city and, from 1859, caring for patients in the new municipal hospital. In 1862, a house near the hospital was acquired for them, giving the community a stable base for its mission of nursing and charitable service. Rooted in the Vincentian spirit, the Sisters dedicated themselves especially to the care of the sick, the poor, and those in need, seeking to make God’s compassion visible through practical love.

–The foundation of the Brothers of Our Lady of the Sacred Heart of Utrecht (Indonesia), founded on August 13, 1873, in Utrecht by Archbishop Andreas Ignatius Schaepman. Also known as the Brothers of Utrecht, this lay male Congregation was established to educate young people, especially boys and those with fewer opportunities, in a Catholic spirit. The Congregation placed itself under the patronage of Our Lady of the Sacred Heart and also honored St. Vincent de Paul as a patron of its mission. In 1928, the Brothers began their work in Indonesia, opening schools in Malang, East Java; in 2003, their general house was transferred to Malang, where their Indonesian mission had taken root.
