The Vincentian Family Daily Intention: August 12, 2026
Today, August 12, 2026, we, the members of the Vincentian Family, pray for people experiencing religious trauma.
For some, experiences within religious communities have brought not healing but pain. Misuse of authority, spiritual manipulation, exclusion, or fear can leave deep wounds that affect faith and trust.
Christ came not to burden people but to set them free. As Vincentians, we are called to accompany those who suffer, listening with humility and offering compassionate presence.
We pray today for all who carry wounds connected to religious experiences. May they find healing, understanding, and communities that reflect the mercy and tenderness of God.
Word of God
“He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.”
(Psalm 147:3)
Prayer
Merciful God, draw near to all who have been hurt in places where they sought Your love. Heal their wounds and guide them toward peace, freedom, and renewed hope. Amen.
On this same day, we celebrate the foundation of the Sisters of Charity of St. Vincent de Paul, Mananthavady, India, founded on August 12, 1975. The Congregation has its historical roots in the Sisters of Charity of Strasbourg, founded in 1734 for the care of the sick and needy, especially the poor. Its Indian mission grew from Sisters from Kerala who had joined related congregations in Germany and later chose to serve in India. Mananthavady, in Kerala, became the Central House and Mother House of this new mission, whose community life officially began on January 1, 1976. Inspired by St. Vincent de Paul, the Sisters seek to serve the poor, the sick, and those in need with compassionate love
