Today, July 8, 2026, we, the members of the Vincentian Family, pray for the right to rest, recreation, and play for all.
Rest is not laziness, and play is not meaningless. God created human beings not only to work, but also to rejoice, breathe, and live in balance.
Yet many people—especially the poor—live without time for rest or safe spaces for joy and recreation.
Children are forced into labor, families carry endless burdens, and exhaustion becomes normal.
We pray today that societies respect human dignity by protecting time for rest, family, culture, and play.

“Come away by yourselves to a quiet place and rest a while.”
(Mark 6:31)
Prayer
God of life, teach us the sacred value of rest. May every child laugh freely, every worker find balance, and every family experience moments of joy and peace. Amen.
On this same day, we also celebrate:
–The feast of Bl. Peter Vigne, C.M., a French missionary priest born in Privas in 1670. While serving as a parish priest, he joined the Congregation of the Mission and became known for preaching, catechesis, and deep Eucharistic devotion. In 1715, he founded the Sisters of the Blessed Sacrament, asking them to adore Christ in the Eucharist and serve through education, faith formation, and care for the poor. He was beatified by Pope John Paul II in 2004.
–The foundation of the Association of the Miraculous Medal, a worldwide Vincentian association of the faithful officially approved by Pope St. Pius X on July 8, 1909. Rooted in Mary’s apparitions to St. Catherine Labouré in Paris in 1830, the Association promotes devotion to Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal and invites its members to deepen their Christian life, evangelize, and serve those most in need with Mary’s spirit of humility, prayer, and charity
