The poor are often silenced and excluded from decisions that affect them most.
True justice begins when their voices are heard—not just as recipients, but as protagonists of change.
We pray today for spaces where the poor can speak with freedom, dignity, and power. May we be listeners, not saviors.

Prayer
God of the voiceless, give courage to the poor to speak, and wisdom to us to listen. Let our communities be places of truth, justice, and shared hope. Amen.
On this same day, we celebrate the anniversary of the apparition of the Virgin Mary to Barbara Samulowska and Justyna Szafryńska, in 1877, in the village of Gietrzwald (now Poland). Between June 27 and September 16 of that year, the Virgin appeared multiple times—first to 13-year-old Justyna and shortly after to 12-year-old Barbara—seated on a throne in a maple tree near the church, accompanied by the Christ Child and angels. She spoke in Polish—a powerful symbol of cultural and religious identity under Prussian Kulturkampf—encouraging them to pray the Rosary daily and promising relief from persecution and healing for the sick. These approved apparitions sparked a spiritual revival: families began reciting the Rosary daily, pilgrimages surged, conversions increased, and parishes reopened. Both visionaries later joined the Daughters of Charity. Barbara Samulowska dedicated her life to missionary service in Guatemala until her death in 1950.
