The Italian National Federation of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul has officially joined ForumSaD, the Permanent Forum for Distance Support in Italy. This important step, promoted by the Federation’s Sector for Solidarity and Twinning Around the World, opens a new chapter of collaboration, transparency, and shared commitment in the field of international solidarity.
ForumSaD was founded in 1999 and has become a key national network for organizations engaged in sostegno a distanza, or distance support. This form of solidarity connects donors with children, families, and vulnerable communities, helping to sustain education, health, development, and human dignity over time. Today, ForumSaD brings together many organizations committed to promoting distance support as a concrete expression of justice, dialogue among peoples, and community development.
For the Society of St. Vincent de Paul, joining this network is both a recognition and an opportunity. Founded in Paris in 1833 by Blessed Frédéric Ozanam and a group of young university students, the Society is an international lay Catholic organization inspired by the Gospel and by the example of St. Vincent de Paul. Its mission is to serve people experiencing poverty and vulnerability through personal relationships, friendship, practical assistance, and a deep commitment to human dignity.
Membership in ForumSaD will allow the Italian Federation to strengthen its work in distance support and international twinning by entering a qualified space for dialogue and cooperation. It will provide opportunities to share best practices with other organizations, take part in targeted formation, and contribute to common initiatives that raise awareness about global solidarity.
This step also strengthens the Federation’s commitment to donors, who support its projects with trust and generosity. Being part of ForumSaD means offering greater transparency, stronger tools, and renewed guarantees that every act of giving can become part of a broader network of responsibility and care.
Above all, this new partnership will help expand opportunities for children, families, and entire communities around the world. It is a concrete sign of hope: a way to build bridges between people, accompany those who are most vulnerable, and work together for a more dignified future.
The Society of St. Vincent de Paul joins ForumSaD with gratitude and determination, convinced that solidarity, when lived in partnership, becomes even more effective, more transparent, and more capable of transforming lives.
