The Vincentian Family of Africa and Madagascar (VIFAM) asks for your prayers for the First Vincentian Family Leadership Gathering of Africa and Madagascar, to be held in Nairobi from June 18-22, 2026. This encounter is a Kairos moment — a time of grace — to strengthen our communion, deepen our shared charism, and discern together new paths of collaboration in service to those who are poor and excluded.

The theme of our gathering, Growing Together in a Living Global Charism, will be explored in spaces of encounter, listening, formation, prayer, and shared commitment among the branches and ministries represented by approximately 50 members from 16 countries.

Our goal is to revitalize the presence, dynamism, and collaboration of the Vincentian Family across the diverse countries, cultures, and sociopolitical realities of Africa and Madagascar. Together, we hope to strengthen our commitment to the sustainability and vitality of the Vincentian ecosystem through:

• the renewal of our relational fabric through communion and collaboration;
• the strengthening of our spiritual fabric rooted in the charism the Spirit gave to our founders;
• the deepening of our prophetic and missionary commitment in service to people living in poverty and to the protection of our common home;
• the constant renewal of our organizational and structural fabric in service of our shared charism and mission.

A critical outcome of our meeting will be the establishment and commissioning of the First Vincentian Family Continental Council of Africa and Madagascar (VIFAM). This commitment to leadership and service will animate and sustain the Vincentian Family as it unites as one family in charity and justice. The Continental Council will continue to provide essential spaces for coordination, shared formation, common projects, and prophetic witness. Our charism flourishes when we walk together.
