The Association of the Miraculous Medal (AMM) celebrated a joyful and meaningful milestone with the installation of a new AMM group in Panama City on Sunday, May 10, 2026. This special occasion marked an important step in the growth of Marian devotion and the Vincentian mission within the local Church.

The newly installed group is led by its president, Noris López, who, together with the members, formally committed herself to promoting devotion to Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal and to living the spirit of prayer, service, and evangelization that characterizes the Association. Their commitment reflects a desire not only to honor Mary, but also to follow her example of humility, faith, and closeness to those most in need.

Also present for the installation was Fr. John Carney, C.M., former National Priest Advisor of the Association of the Miraculous Medal. Through his presence and words of encouragement, Fr. Carney inspired the new members to remain faithful to their Marian vocation and to continue spreading the message of hope, trust, and love entrusted by the Blessed Virgin Mary through the Miraculous Medal.

The ceremony was a beautiful expression of faith, unity, and missionary enthusiasm. As the members officially began their journey within the AMM family, the installation became more than a formal event; it was a sign of the continuing call to bring people closer to Christ through the maternal intercession of Mary.

The Association of the Miraculous Medal is a public association of the faithful made up of lay people, clergy, and consecrated persons who seek to live a Christian and apostolic life inspired by the message of the Miraculous Medal. Its origins are rooted in the apparitions of the Blessed Virgin Mary to Saint Catherine Labouré, a Daughter of Charity, in Paris in 1830. During those apparitions, Mary asked that a medal be struck according to the design she revealed, bearing the prayer: “O Mary, conceived without sin, pray for us who have recourse to thee.”

The Association was established to make known the message of the Miraculous Medal and to help the faithful grow in devotion to Mary, in union with Christ and in service to others. It received official recognition from Pope Pius X in the early twentieth century and was entrusted in a particular way to the Vincentian Family, especially the Congregation of the Mission and the Daughters of Charity.

Today, the AMM continues to be a living expression of Marian faith and Vincentian service. It is present in many countries around the world, with recent Vincentian sources noting its presence in more than 55 countries. Its mission remains deeply relevant: to evangelize through the message of the Miraculous Medal, strengthen personal and communal prayer, and encourage works of charity in the spirit of Mary, who always leads the faithful to Jesus. The installation of the new AMM group in Panama City is therefore part of a much larger story: a global movement of faith, prayer, and service that continues to grow more than a century after its official recognition and nearly two centuries after the apparitions to Saint Catherine Labouré.
