Today, May 24, 2026, we, the members of the Vincentian Family, pray for workers struggling with burnout and stress.
Work can bring purpose—but without balance, it can also bring exhaustion.
We remember today all those overwhelmed by demands, anxiety, or unfair expectations.
May their labor be valued, and may they find time to rest, breathe, and heal.
Word of God
“In peace I will lie down and sleep, for you alone, Lord, make me dwell in safety.”
(Psalm 4:8)
Prayer
God of rest, comfort the weary and restore strength to those overburdened. Let Your peace renew both body and spirit. Amen.
On this same day, we celebrate the foundation of the Sisters of St. Vincent de Paul of Waarschoot, established in 1840 in Waarschoot, Belgium. Founded by Reverend Peter de Vos de Walhoucke, with the assistance of Bernardine de Neve, this Diocesan Institute committed itself to the care of the sick, the elderly, and the education of young people in rural communities. Their simple lifestyle and deep Vincentian spirituality inspired them to establish schools, eldercare homes, and health services tailored to the needs of their local population. Even today, their legacy continues in community-based educational and healthcare ministries that reflect their founding mission of compassionate service.
