The Vincentian Family Daily Intention: May 15, 2026
Today, May 15, 2026, we, the members of the Vincentian Family, pray for peace and justice in divided cities.
Urban spaces often mirror inequality—some live in comfort, while others are trapped in poverty, violence, and exclusion.
We pray today for peace rooted in justice, for communities built on respect and common purpose.
May our cities become places of encounter, not walls.
Word of God
“Seek the peace of the city… and pray to the Lord on its behalf.”
(Jeremiah 29:7)
Prayer
God of reconciliation, bless our neighborhoods and streets. Make us builders of bridges, agents of healing, and voices for justice. Amen.
On this same day, we celebrate the foundation of the Aguapaneleros de la Noche [Nighttime Aguapanela Givers], established in 1998, a Vincentian lay initiative born on the streets of Medellín, Colombia. Each night, these volunteers go out to meet the homeless, offering not only aguapanela—a traditional hot drink made from unrefined cane sugar—but also companionship, prayer, and a listening heart. Rooted in the spirit of St. Vincent de Paul, they seek to restore dignity to those who are too often forgotten by society. What began with a thermos and a desire to serve has grown into a powerful ministry of presence and hope in the darkest corners of the city.
