Seeing Christ in the face of the poor

Today, May 8, 2026, we, the members of the Vincentian Family, pray for wisdom in addressing artificial intelligence ethically.

Technology shapes how we live, learn, and relate—but it must never replace our conscience.

Artificial intelligence brings opportunity and risk. The poor, as always, are the most vulnerable to its misuse.

We pray today for ethical reflection, global responsibility, and innovation guided by human dignity.

Word of God
“Test all things; hold fast what is good.”
(1 Thessalonians 5:21)

Prayer
God of wisdom, guide our minds and hands. May our technologies serve justice, truth, and the common good. Amen.

On this same day, we joyfully celebrate the feast of Blessed Miriam Teresa Demjanovich, a young American Sister whose life was a radiant testimony to holiness in the ordinary. Born in 1901 in Bayonne, New Jersey, to Slovak immigrant parents of the Byzantine Catholic rite, she entered the Sisters of Charity of St. Elizabeth in Convent Station, New Jersey, in 1925. Though her time in religious life was brief—she died less than two years later at the age of 26—her deep spirituality and writings on the universal call to holiness left a lasting legacy. Her reflections, published posthumously as Greater Perfection, have inspired countless souls to seek God in the everyday. Beatified in 2014, Blessed Miriam Teresa is a bridge between Eastern and Western Catholic traditions and a shining example of how sanctity is possible in every vocation and every moment of life.
