The Vincentian Family Daily Intention: May 2, 2026

by .famvin | May 2, 2026 | The Vincentian Family Daily Intention

Today, May 2, 2026, we, the members of the Vincentian Family, pray for women religious serving in dangerous missions.

In remote villages, war zones, and underserved cities, women religious live the Gospel with quiet heroism and boundless compassion.

They comfort the sick, educate the young, advocate for the voiceless—and often do so amid great risk.

We pray today for their safety, strength, and deep joy in mission.

    Word of God
“Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.”
    (Matthew 5:10)

    Prayer
Lord of mission, protect your faithful daughters who give their lives for the poor. May their witness shine and inspire many. Amen.

On this same day, we celebrate the foundation of the Company of Mission Priests, established in 1940, an Anglican dispersed community of celibate priests rooted in Vincentian spirituality. Originally formed during World War II to serve evacuated and underprivileged communities in the UK, it was sponsored by several Anglican religious orders and the Archbishop of Canterbury. After the crisis over women’s ordination in the 1990s led many members away, those who remained renewed their identity under St. Vincent de Paul—embracing his spirit of mission, collaboration, and care for the poor. Today, the Company of Mission Priests serve in needy parishes across England and internationally (including Guyana and Madagascar), united by communal life, prayer, and a Vincentian rule that guides their outreach and pastoral care.
