The Rosalie Projects: The Riverbanks

In San Lorenzo de Moxos, Bolivia, the life of the semi-nomadic Indigenous communities revolves around fishing, hunting, and agriculture. Young people grow up far from the digital tools that shape today’s world: access to technology is almost nonexistent.

The Riverbanks project aimed to equip the San Lorenzo high school and boarding facility with computer equipment, thus providing the 45 students living there with equal opportunities to continue and successfully complete their higher education.

A project carried out with great enthusiasm!

As soon as the funds were received, Sister Juana and the school staff mobilized to organize training sessions and prepare for the arrival of the computer equipment.

First, a training session introduced the students to the basics of computer use. Then the purchased equipment was installed: 2 laptops, 1 projector and projection screen, 1 printer with ink, and 1 audio system. This equipment was made available to the students, transforming an ordinary space into a true learning environment.

In just a few weeks, the 45 high school students—20 girls and 25 boys between the ages of 15 and 19—were able to discover a tool that most of them had never used before.

“The change was first visible in their expressions—in their curiosity, surprise, and pride! Then it appeared in their attitudes: a desire to learn, to understand, and to make progress. These young people embraced these new tools with enthusiasm. Today they are developing not only concrete computer skills, but also a new confidence in their abilities.”

Their teacher can now support them with appropriate resources, making learning more engaging and more effective. Beyond technical skills, this has opened a window to the world—a gateway to opportunities that had previously been out of reach.

A project accomplished—but not without challenges

Rising prices forced the team to revise their original plans and focus their purchases on the equipment essential for training. As a result, some items could not be acquired, but the core purpose of the project was preserved: enabling the students to access digital tools.

“Thanks to your support, this project is now a reality. Our 45 young people now have access to tools that broaden their horizons and strengthen their chances for the future.”
